Place - Bus Stop to pick up employees of an IT company.
Time - Morning 8.45
People - All young employees (in the range of 2-7 years of experience) including 2 girls and 4 boys.
Incidence - Bus arrives, AND, two of the boys rush near of door of the bus, almost starting their elbow-nicks. For what, to get a comfortable seat!!
Girls board the last, except someone who understands some courtesy, would wait for them to board first and then board.
All of them are engineers, come from a cream class of the society and here is their behavior!!
Shocking??
Ok, here is further story.
In the bus, some people are 'sleeping' on the aisle side sit keeping their bag on the window sit. Clearly, they want to tell others, "Do not disturb me, I am sleeping!!". But if the bus is loaded, they have to be disturbed. Are these well mannered people?
Some of them who are sitting at the window sit, they have occupied almost 1.5 seats, so, when the next person comes, he needs to half-sit there!!
Everyone wants comfort, but does it mean that others should not receive?
Same people when go overseas, they would show every sign of courtesy, behave good mannered, but here, they make a fun of their eduction.
Truly, good manners need to be taught. Still, that single thought that we are representing a good class of the society should bring some responsibility. Still, at the bottom of all of these, that sense of care for others, if it is there, most of the things would come automatically. I have seen people, in the IT industry, particularly in my TCS-Nortel Lab days, who set such good examples of professionalism and courtesy, one would cherish the same throughout life, and would hardly behave odd.
My father usually says, "There is a difference between being educated and being able to read and write. People, in their student life, just learn to read and write, but the true education does not come!!"
How true he is!!
Hope people read this, and at least start educating themselves on good behavior with fellow employees, at least.
