Spirituality OR ‘Spirit’uality? What is your choice?

-->

The other day I was watching this movie ‘Rustam’. A very common scene in any movie. Mr. Rustam realized that his wife was not honest to him, and he started drinking wine. This is a very common shot in any movie. Whenever someone is in depression due to any failures, be it girlfriend leaving, failing in exams, not getting a job or losing a job or anything else, all our “Hero” resort to drinks to get the ‘relief’. It’s not only depression, but celebration as well. If one wants to celebrate engagement, a girl saying yes to you, getting a business deal, passing exams,  birthday or anything else,  all celebrations lead to drinking.

As if there is no other way to handle stress or celebrate!!

I was just wondering what message my 13 year old son would take back home? If he faces stress in life, would he look for a bottle of whisky? May be, may be not! It is up to me to show him other ways. Like any other responsible parent, I must show him alternatives to celebrate or to handle stressful situations. If I don’t do that, I am sure the movie and entertain media would continuously bombard him with only one choice. I am sure the entertainment media would never show a person in stressful situations doing meditation, or going to a temple or going to nature. They would not do so because the media gets a lot of money from wine and tobacco industries for obvious reasons. The real spiritual ‘industry’ would not fund them!

It is simple. If you see advertisement of only Colgate on TV and everywhere else, you will not know of other choices unless you go to shop. But the problem here is that you will not go to a general shop, but to Colgate exclusive shop where nobody will tell you to buy something else. There might be other shops existing around you, but you don’t know them because you have seen only Colgate and you are convinced that it is the best.

If you got the message, it is up to you to start protecting your next generation. Teach them meditation which is the best remedy for stress and other emotions arising out of stress. Let’s accept that in changing world of food, lifestyle, peer pressure, competition etc., there would be more stress, more adverse situations in the lives of our children. If they learn to meditate since their childhood, they would have developed a taste of the same. Not only that, they would have become more stable and strong already to not even react on adversaries of life.

Just protect our current and next generations through right spirituality!!
